About Me

I'm Toby McGuire, a developer who builds both software and games. I like working across the life cycle of a problem, from concept to completion.

On the software side, my biggest strength is in my adaptability. I'm used to diving into massive, complex codebases and quickly finding my footing. Recently, I've been focused on growing my full-stack skills through projects like Cookbook, a recipe organization app that touches everything from frontend UI to backend architecture, and creating this portfolio site.

On the game dev side, I build with C# and Unity. My biggest project right now is Sumo, a multiplayer fighting game that started as a small prototype on itch.io and grew into something heading for Steam. Working on it has taught me a lot about real-time networking, game polish, and shipping something that feels complete.

I've also published several games on itch.io: puzzle games, platformers, survival games, each one a chance to explore a different corner of game design and development.

I care about clean code, clear architecture, and building things that work well. I'm always learning, always building, and always looking for the next interesting problem to solve.
